Figures obtained by the Daily Telegraph show HMRC made enquiries into the tax affairs of 237,215 people last year compared to around 119,000 in 2011/12. Raising concerns that people who have made innocent mistakes are being targeted by the government.

The number of annual prosecutions have risen seven fold in three years, again see my previous comments, I think this will go to 20 times at least within the next two or three years given that the CPS is now dealing with all matters relating to HMRC investigations and prosecutions.
