The government plan to recruit 480 staff to fill posts at the new tax office in Cardiff . This comes as HMRC prepares to move to a new site in the city, closing its existing office at Ty Glas, Llanishen.

The closure of Ty Glas is part of restructuring by HMRC which will also see the closure of offices in Wrexham, Porthmadog and Swansea. The intention being to have a smaller network of large regional centres by 2019/20.

Staff recruited for the new roles will be expected to handle income customer calls and resolve customer complaints.
