At a recent ADR mediation,  a very small claim by HMRC of £124,000 was reduced to £31,000.

We were fighting Chartered Accountants figures, signed off by the client prior to our taking over the case.

We showed the Chartered Accountants figures were incorrect as entries into the diary had not been considered and perhaps the HMRC had been too reliant on those figures to consider any settlement.

Our next ADR case is the result of a two year investigation by HMRC and frankly after dealing with the issues in a skeleton argument it is, in our opinion, a very SIMPLE case which has been hampered by an extremely over active and bias officer.

We are so looking forward to the mediation and will report back. At risk is £700,000 of tax and penalties.
